Michael L. Brosnan has been named Director for Treasury and Market Risk, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced today. In this new position, Brosnan will head a staff that develops regulatory policy and supports the supervisory activities of multinational banks related to interest rate, market and liquidity risks. Brosnan, a national bank examiner, will report to Douglas E. Harris, Senior Deputy Comptroller for Capital Markets.
"Mike is one of our most knowledgeable examiners on capital markets issues," said Mr. Harris. "He has been a leader in the OCC in developing methods to monitor and evaluate risk management practices and risk levels in the trading activities of national banks. He has also been instrumental in our efforts to identify and deal with liquidity and interest rate risk in national banks. He will lead an experienced staff that will work on these top priority issues."
Brosnan has spent most of his OCC career examining the capital markets activities at multinational and large regional national banks. He has served in Washington in the Capital Markets Division since last year. From 1992 to 1994, he was in Chicago with the OCC's Multinational Division. He has also served in Miami and in the Investment Securities Division in Washington. He joined the OCC in 1983.
Brosnan earned a B.S. and an M.B.A. in Business Administration at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia.
