WASHINGTON – The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency announced today the selection of Kevin M. Mukri as Director for Press Relations. Mr. Mukri succeeds Robert M. Garsson, who became Deputy Comptroller for Public Affairs last year.
“Kevin is a tremendous asset to the OCC,” said OCC Chief of Staff Mark A. Nishan. “He has an in-depth knowledge of the OCC and its people and a long background in media relations. I know that he will be an excellent representative of the OCC in his new role.”
As Director for Press Relations, Mr. Mukri will manage the Press Relations staff and oversee the OCC’s media program.
Mr. Mukri joined the OCC as a senior Public Affairs Specialist in 1998, after serving as Director for Communications for the California Redevelopment Association. Previously, he had served as Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and as a senior spokesman for the Department of Defense. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1974 with a BS in engineering, and earned a number of graduate degrees, including an MA in communications from the University of Oklahoma.
