Edward J. Dorris Named Chief Information Officer

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced today that Edward J. Dorris has been named Chief Information Officer (CIO).

As CIO, Mr. Dorris will lead all OCC information technology (IT) programs, supporting the agency's mission of ensuring the safety and soundness of national banks as well as fair and equal access to financial services for all Americans. The office of the CIO reports to the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Management and Chief Financial Officer.

"As Deputy CIO and later as acting CIO, Ed proved himself a capable leader and a customer-focused executive committed to continuous improvement of our Information Technology (IT) organization, products, and services," said Senior Deputy Comptroller for Management and Chief Financial Officer Tom Bloom.

Prior to joining the OCC in 2008, Mr. Dorris served as CIO for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and Deputy CIO for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He has more than 25 years of IT experience. He has worked in IT program management, enterprise architecture, systems integration and deployment, capital planning and portfolio management. He has also worked on information technology projects at the Department of Transportation, Department of the Treasury, and private sector organizations.

Mr. Dorris obtained his bachelor's degree in general studies from American University.
