Chief Accountant and Deputy Comptroller for Capital, Market Risk and Asset Management

Amanda Freedle is the Chief Accountant and Deputy Comptroller for Capital, Market Risk and Asset Management at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) within the Office of the Chief National Bank Examiner (CNBE).

In this role, Ms. Freedle serves as the OCC's authoritative source on bank accounting and financial reporting. She also oversees the agency’s Capital, International Banking, Market Risk, and Asset Management units, providing executive direction to and setting policies for bank capital and international, market risk, and asset management activities in alignment with the OCC’s mission. She also represents the OCC internally and externally on policy matters related to supervision and operation of capital, international, market risk and asset management activities. Ms. Freedle works with other CNBE Deputy Comptrollers to oversee the CNBE supervision program and to develop systems, policies/processes and programs that promote a focus on achieving the goals and priorities of the OCC.

Prior to this role, Ms. Freedle held the position of Deputy Comptroller and Chief Accountant. She has also served as Deputy Chief Accountant and as a Senior Accounting Policy Advisor providing accounting support for large bank examination teams and leading various policy initiatives. Before joining the OCC, she worked in various financial services positions and as an external auditor.

Ms. Freedle is a Certified Public Accountant with an undergraduate degree in business from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree in accounting from North Carolina State University. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
