Brian James is the Midsize and Community Bank Supervision (MCBS) Deputy Comptroller for Risk, Resource, and Examiner Development in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
In this capacity, Mr. James oversees MCBS risk assessment efforts as well as supervision support through resource management, financial analysis, and examiner development. He manages a staff of risk officers, lead experts, resource managers, examination specialists, financial analysts, and other professional personnel throughout the country. He assumed these duties in October 2022.
Mr. James joined the OCC in 1990 as a field examiner in Des Moines, Iowa. Since then, he has served as a National Bank Examiner responsible for supervision of community and large banks, Field Office Analyst, Assistant Deputy Comptroller, Associate Deputy Comptroller, and Central District Deputy Comptroller.
Mr. James earned his bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, and economics from the University of Nebraska – Kearney.
