Washington, D.C. — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today announced the appointment of Leann Britton as Deputy Comptroller for the OCC's Central District, effective January 1, 1996. The Central District supervises national banks in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Ms. Britton has been director of the Minneapolis Field Office since February 1989. Since September 1994, she has also worked on the OCC's Organizational Review Team, an initiative of Comptroller Eugene A. Ludwig to review the OCC's organizational structure and systems to promote more consistent national bank supervision. She currently serves as the chair of the steering committee that is overseeing the implementation phase of the project. Ms. Britton will continue in this role through the end of l995, when the first round of implementation projects are expected to be completed.
Ms. Britton began her career with the OCC in 1975 and became a national bank examiner in 1980. Prior to becoming field office director, she held the positions of regional director for corporate activities in Minneapolis (l981-1983); manager of corporate activities in Chicago (l983-85); and director for analysis in Chicago (l985-1989). She has a BA in Economics from Hamline University St. Paul, Minnesota, and studied economics at the University of Brussels in 1973, with a particular focus on the European Economic Community.
