OCC Names Jeff Gillespie as Deputy Chief Counsel

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced today the selection of James F. E. Gillespie as Deputy Chief Counsel. Mr. Gillespie succeeds Raymond Natter who recently retired from Federal service. Mr. Gillespie will report to Acting Chief Counsel Daniel P. Stipano.

"Jeff is a tremendous asset to the OCC," said Acting Comptroller Julie L. Williams," and I know he will be terrific as he takes on these additional responsibilities. Ray Natter left some big shoes to fill and we are lucky to have someone as talented as Jeff to succeed him."

As assistant chief counsel since 1995, Mr. Gillespie was responsible for managing OCC legal projects involving electronic banking and technology.

Mr. Gillespie joined the OCC in 1979 after completing a federal judicial clerkship. He held a number of management and staff positions in the Legislative and Regulatory Activities Division, Corporate Organization and Resolutions Division, the Litigation Division, the Legal Advisory Services Division, and the Legislative Counsel Division.

Mr. Gillespie graduated from Indiana University School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, and earned a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University. Mr. Gillespie is a member of the Indiana State Bar.
