WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today named Darrin Benhart its Deputy Comptroller for Credit and Market Risk.
As one of two Deputy Comptrollers for Credit and Market Risk, Mr. Benhart will serve as a principal advisor on emerging systemic risks facing the banking system. He will co-chair the National Risk Committee, which coordinates the OCC risk identification practices, and will oversee staff responsible for commercial and retail credit policy as well as credit and market risk. He assumes these duties immediately.
"Darrin brings strong leadership and expertise to his new position and is well suited to manage the CMR’s Retail and Commercial Credit groups and credit-related initiatives under the Dodd-Frank Act mandates," said David Wilson, Senior Deputy Comptroller for Bank Supervision Policy and Chief National Bank Examiner.
Mr. Benhart brings more than 19 years of experience as a field examiner to his new position and has held a wide range of technical and managerial roles at the OCC since joining the agency in 1992. He most recently served as Director for Commercial Credit in the Credit and Market Risk Division. Mr. Benhart earned his bachelor of arts in finance from the University of Northern Iowa.
