OCC Honors Veterans with New Lapel Pin

WASHINGTON—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recently recognized agency employees who are veterans with a new lapel pin honoring their service.

The pins, which are available to all OCC employees who served in the U.S. military, bear the moniker "veteran" above the familiar OCC logo. The token serves as a way for the agency to honor veterans who continue to serve the nation by ensuring the safety and soundness of the federal banking system as part of the OCC team.

Comptroller of the Currency Joseph M. Otting presented a few pins early in his office on March 27 to veterans Bernard Colebrook, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1988, Eric Thompson, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972, and Junior Infante, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2004 to 2014.

"Veterans bring unique experience and expertise to the OCC, "Comptroller Otting said. "They are part of the diverse make up of our agency that makes the OCC special and we are better for it."

The pin is being distributed to the more than 300 OCC employees on board as of March 1, 2019, who claimed veteran status during the hiring process. Employees who served in the U.S. armed forces but did not claim veteran status during the hiring process will also be able to request a pin.
