WASHINGTON—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced the selection of Dr. Christina Handley to be the agency's Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective March 1, 2020.
As CIO, Dr. Handley will lead all OCC information technology (IT) programs, supporting the agency's mission of ensuring that national banks and federal savings associations operate in a safe, sound, and fair manner.
"Dr. Handley brings a tremendous breadth of experience in providing strategic management and policy direction in optimizing IT resources," said Comptroller of the Currency Joseph M. Otting. "I am pleased that she will continue her public service with the OCC and position our IT program to achieve even greater efficiencies."
Dr. Handley previously served as Chief Information Officer at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the information and performance of technology systems, services, and business processes. Prior to FERC, she served as the CIO at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Deputy Chief Information Officer at the U.S. National Labor Relations Board, and in IT management roles at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Dr. Handley also serves as an IT Portfolio Management Staff Officer, as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. While on active duty, she led program management and evaluation, commercial activities/outsourcing studies, and manpower requirements determination at various domestic and overseas locations.
Ms. Handley holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from George Washington University, a master of business administration degree from Arizona State University, a master of international management degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a doctor of management, information systems and technology from the University of Maryland, University College.
